This card tells me I need to spend a bit more time in the wilderness – perhaps hug a few more trees, sing with the birds, and re-attune myself with Mother Earth and the natural elements.

Here’s what the book says:

Card Meaning: Spend time outdoors, among the flowers, plants, and trees. Nature has powerful gifts that she wants to share with you, including ideas, information, and healing energy.

Description: When you are disconnected from Mother Earth, you may feel depressed or lethargic without knowing why. Earth, too, feels distraught when you don’t connect with her on a regular basis. She needs you to be amidst her bbeauty so that she can telegraph information to you. In this way, you’ll know best how to care for your planet.

By drawing this card, you’re being urged to spend time daily (even as little as five minutes) outside in nature. Remove your shoes, socks, or nylons, and connect your bare feet with the soil, sod, or sand. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths as you’re surrounded by the magical energy of nature. Mentally ask the fairies to help you with any issues you may have. Then, open your eyes and look for their flitting light, which is the first sign that you’re seeing the fairies that surround you.

Affirmation: I love being outside in nature. I feel energized by the sunshine, fresh air, plants, and animals. I take excellent care of every living being, including myself.

This card strikes me as odd today – except, perhaps, in relation to my dreams.  Actually, though, on first instinct, I “heard” her tell me to choose the location of my shop wisely because the environment I set up in will have much of an impact on how the energy flows in the building itself.  While I was typing the messages for the King of Pentacles, I started daydreaming about the decor of the shop – of having murals painted on the walls and celings.  I was seeing the Zodiac on the ceiling.  Somehow, that daydream, the location and decor of my physical business, seems connected to this card.  I’m not sure how or why, I’m just stating my gut reaction to it.

I generally guide people to pay attention to their surroundings when this card surfaces – to be attuned to the messages of animals, to be aware of their treatment of the environment, or to notice things in their environment that have changed or might feel unsettling.

The last time I drew this card was when I was looking into buying a house, and I haven’t drawn her since.  When I was looking into buying the house, I paid close attention to environmental issues.  The house I was looking at actually had a gas line running between it and the house next door – with huge pipes and valves protruding from the ground.  It was an eye-sore that someone had attempted to shield with strategically placed fences and vining plants.  The house I was also looking at was located near a dog food plant, so there was the constant “aroma” of dog food in preparation.  Those two factors alone probably would have made me very unhappy (if not unhealthy!) in the long run, so it doesn’t surprise me that the house I was choosing did NOT become my house.

Here’s what the guidebook says:

Environmental Awareness

Card Meaning: The Fairy kingdom is very concerned with the health of Mother Earth. By drawing this card, the fairies are recruiting you to become involved in environmental matters.

Definition: You have the power to make a huge impact on our planet. Earth is a living, breathing being, and the fairies are calling upon you to help her. Your contributions could include recycling, picking up trash while on your nature walk, switching to environmentally friendly cleaning products, becoming a vegetarian, or educating your children about the fragility of nature.

When you spend time outdors, mentally ask the fairies for guidance on how to make your special contributions to Mother Earth’s well-being. The fairies will give you answers in the form of thoughts or feelings, by arranging a synchronistic opportunity, or by helping you use your unique talents to help educate others about environmental concerns.

Affirmation: It feels good to nurture my planet with loving care.

Afterthought: Naturally, I was thinking T when I was daydreaming about the murals on the wall.  That’s what he does.  As a general contractor, he does lots of things – but his gift with visual art is absolutely amazing and raises goosebumps on my arms.  I’ve seen his work – he’s incredible, and if I were to choose someone to bring to life the visions in my head in the form of visual art in my shop, he’d be the one I choose, without question.

The other night, I did a reading for a new client, one who has since become a weekly standing appointment, and with whom I’ll be working closely long term. One of his greatest gifts is interior design, and it was discovered in his reading that his greatest attribute might be in “going green”.  Incorporating environmental awareness into his designs, and his forte is bringing the elements of the outdoors in.  I noticed when visiting his house that each room was an expression of nature.  His living room was safari, with fabrics, textures, and prints that reflected the animal kingdom.  His kitchen, however, was designed in florals.  Each room had a different theme, but each theme was tied together by the common thread of nature.  This is a concept I’d love to have applied to Enchanted Elements.  I don’t want it to be a store or an office, I want it to be an experience – and if I could apply T’s gift with visual arts and E’s gift of environmentally friendly interior design with the elements, I’d have the perfect environment for doing my work.

Toxic energy, whether it comes from drugs, alcohol, poor diet, or negative influences, can seriously impact the way we think, feel, or function in daily life.  If drugs and alcohol are in use (which they are not in my current circumstance, with the exception of cigarettes), this card signifies a time to let go of those addictions so that life can be seen from a clear and straight perspective.  If drugs and/or alcohol are not in use, perhaps the diet needs a review – what is being consumed that may be unhealthy to the body?  And if the diet is in good order, one must reflect on what other influences in their life may be considered toxic, and begin eliminating those toxic energies. In order to move forward successfully, body, mind, and soul must be detoxified.

I’m probably being given a nudge here about smoking, which I’ve been considering quitting but have not yet committed to, and to my diet.  I only eat one meal a day, usually – and it most often comes from the restaurant where I work.  Not exactly what I’d call a healthy diet. I also consume entirely too much caffeine by way of coffee and Mountain Dew.

Coupling this card with this morning’s Tarot, Queen of Pentacles, it may be a good idea to think about growing some of my own foods and herbs in a garden.  I told my kids just last week that I wanted to start an indoor herb garden. Then again, I can also pin-pointedly mark certain external influences in my life who I’d consider to be “toxic energy”.

Here’s what the guidebook says:

Card Meaning: You are being guided to clean your body, environment, mind, and heart of toxins. God and the fairies will help you with this endeavor.

Card Description: It’s time to let go of toxins, within and around you. This card validates your inner guidance that has been telling you to let go of harmful habits. Go outside in nature, and call upon the fairies to surround you. Ask God and the fairies to help you release toxins from your mind, body, and heart. Ask them to help you release your cravings for harmful habits.

You’ll soon find yourself naturally desiring organic fresh food and produce. You’ll be guided to read ingredient labels of all foods, beverages, and toiletry items, and you’ll only want to use natural products. You’ll be guided away from environmental toxins. And, most important, your thoughts and emotions will veer away from judgment and fear, and will become love-based instead.

Affirmation: I take excellent care of my body, and I crave only healthful foods and beverages.

The story is beginning to accumulate in my mind. I understand the Turtle is taming the Lizard… go a head and dream of the future, know what there is to know, but don’t think that “knowing” is permission to skip the necessary steps of getting there.  Turn off the outside world and travel inward, communing not only with Self, but with the Powers that be – the Masculine and Feminine all that is – God and Goddess.  Put fears and worries aside, otherwise they’ll be manifested, and trust that my needs will be met in time – and while I’m waiting in solitary reflection, express my innermost thoughts creatively, and with a grateful spirit, unabashedly unique.

I feel better.  Seriously… I woke up slightly irritable, and I feel much better.

Virgo, The Virgin

As the sixth sign of the zodiac, Virgo represents the sixth stage in the evolution of man and his place in the universe. In Leo the need is to discover and develop man’s individuality and creative potential. In Virgo the need is to find ways to put man’s individual talents to the best possible use. This is why Virgo is known as the sign of service. For many Virgos, the need to make things better is satisfied by pursuing careers in health-related fields or in other areas such as teaching, labor relations, environmental protection, social work, or religious counseling. Though most of them do have altruistic motives in helping others, it must also be said that Virgos have a tendency to act the martyr when their service or counseling is ignored, and it is not unheard of for them to use guilt as a weapon when they want to elicit the attention and cooperation of others. Virgos have to learn that helping others to improve is one thing, but pushing them toward goals of perfection they cannot hope to accomplish is destructive as well as impossible.

Virgos adapt to change. This trait is a strength because it is a survival mechanism, and a weakness because it makes them vulnerable to the demands and influence of other people. Instinctively responsive to the needs of others, they usually adapt to different people and changing circumstances by finding ways to make themselves useful. The Virgin is the astrological symbol of Virgo and, like the true virgin, most Virgos are shy. Like a virgin waiting to give herself to the perfect lover, Virgos are also idealistic. Unfortunately when they allow idealism to get out of hand, nothing is accomplished. The virgin becomes a bitter spinster and talents die on the vine. Though intensely personal situations are inhibiting, there are other situations when Virgos can be very dynamic. When the spotlight is not directly on them but on a product or a service they offer, they are excellent salespersons.

Virgos react to what they experience by assessing its practical worth. Before they take physical action, before they sort out their emotional involvement, and before they reason it out intellectually, they must ascertain what tangible advantages are to be gained from the experience. If the advantages they find are not necessarily useful to them, they are willing to give them to those who can benefit. Virgos are effective negotiators. They patiently endure endless details and responsibilities if convinced it accomplishes an end they think justifies their efforts.

Mercury, planet of the intellect, rules Virgo, giving Virgos an analytical approach to life. That communication is important to Virgos is aptly demonstrated by the fact that so many of them are very talkative. They love books, magazines, and writing. With a critical eye for organization and detail and their constant search for perfection, Virgos have an irresistible urge to improve everything and everyone, whether they need it or not. Virgos are not above using their inability to achieve perfection as an excuse for their own idleness and unproductiveness. Out of character with their true nature, these Virgos are sloppy, disorganized, and irresponsible. What is worse, their own bad habits do not in the least inhibit them from criticizing others for the same behavior. Their analytical ability makes them excellent critics of the talent and performance of those more skilled than themselves. Virgos need to think that what they do is of a practical and helpful nature. The worthiness of their self-sacrificing efforts is spoiled at times however, when they exact tangible proof of gratitude from those who benefited from their actions.

Likely to be health conscious, many Virgos make an effort to stay physically fit. If they are convinced that results can be achieved, they don’t mind tedious exercise routines. They enjoy tennis, racquetball, swimming, sailing, fishing, and biking. As athletes, Virgos are not overly competitive. Most of them do however, attempt to perfect whatever skills they do have in a particular sport. They are likely to be talented craftsman, seamstresses, or designers, and may have particular interest in such things as cartography, travel, and philately.

Virgo colors are blue, yellow, gray, tan, navy, and lilac. Vulnerable parts of the body are the sinuses, respiratory system, and bowels. Colds, flu, allergies, and constipation are common Virgo complaints. The sapphire, which is a variety of the mineral corundum, is Virgo’s birthstone. This gem was considered by ancient societies as a love charm. Though they come in a variety of colors and can even be transparent, the most valuable sapphires are blue. Blue is also the principal color associated with Virgo. Flowers and plants for Virgo include the aster, chrysanthemum, ivy, and fern.

The Sun:
Virgo, The Virgin

The Principle of Discernment and Boundaries

Element-Earth
Quality-Mutable
Symbol-The Virgin
Sun Sign Dates-August 24 to September 23
Planetary Ruler-Mercury
Natural Zodiac Affinity-Sixth House

Virgo has a mission. The mission of Virgo is to separate what is useful from that which is not useful. This is called discernment. This is a sign that needs to feel a sense of usefulness and purpose. Someone needs to create order from chaos. They’ve earned a reputation for being too critical. Don’t take their criticism personally. Everyone and everything is subject to the same scrutiny. Those who are comfortable in chaos will not last long around Virgo. Their perfectionist drive comes from their innermost being. They may seem picky and uptight to other people but the reason why Virgo can get so uptight is because theirs is a never-ending job. There is always work to be done and so much of it is not fully appreciated by other people. Remember, Virgo has a large contribution to make to the world. Do you want your dentist to be a slob? Do you want to sleep on unchanged sheets in a hotel room? Do you care if the cook washes his hands? Virgo has taken on the job of worry and concern over the everyday duties that actually make life liveable in so many unseen ways. Virgo is the civilizing effect on mankind.

Virgo is into reality. They don’t dream about what is possible- they do it. If the five senses cannot detect it, then what use is that? Virgo has a talent for logical analysis. Virgo and Gemini are both ruled by Mercury. Virgo sorts through the Gemini function which takes in everything. It sorts through it and files away that which may be used later if necessary then tosses out that which has no use. Pure Virgo energy always knows where the scissors are. A place for everything and everything in it’s place. If you won’t do it, then they will. Virgo likes to help. It’s a service-oriented sign.

Thank a Virgo today for being humble enough to do what needs to be done. For taking the time to fuss over the small details which enhance the quality of life in so many practical ways.

Pure Virgo energy is….
* an instinctive talent for analyzing things in a logical manner
* creating order from chaos
* leans towards worry and concern
* seeking perfection
* geared towards getting the job done
* wants to feel useful
* fact oriented-leans towards skepticism until proven
* usually feels that “cleanliness is next to godliness.”
* a lot of mental anxiety over outcomes
* detail oriented
* learning to draw boundaries and to say, “no”
* the craftsman/craftswoman

This card has been following me for some time, now.  Certain dots are trying to connect themselves in my head here… about how I just recently posted about being a “seer” and how frustrating it is when we realize we’ve blinded ourselves to the truths of our own circumstance.  I also wrote of how I sometimes feel odd about trying to offer direction to others via readings, etc. when my own life seems to be in such a state of disarray.  The other day when I drew this card, I associated her to manifesting my dreams… the magick shoppe, etc.  Today, however, she reaches a little deeper, tapping into that psychic wavelength.

When I drew this card the other day, I went back and read my original thoughts on her when I’d drawn her before, then copied and pasted them.  Today, I’m forfeiting my old thoughts and just accepting the book definition as is:

Visualization

Visualization

Card Meaning: Your clairvoyance, your dreams, and the pictures in your mind’s eye are becoming more clear and powerful. This card asks you to trust and to develop your visual skills, and to use them in conscious manifestation.

Card Description: The fairies know the power of conscious visualization as a tool of manifestation. By drawing this card, you are guided to sit quietly on a daily basis and to visualize yourself living a healthy, happy, abundant, and meaningful life. Visualize only what you desire, and avoid picturing that which you do not desire.

You have powerful visual skills, even if you’re unaware of them. Affirm daily, “I am a highly visual person.” Any blocks that you have about clairvoyance will begin to lift. Know that it is safe for you to see the future, the spirit world, and the truth about your life. By releasing any fears about “seeing,” your visualization powers will be greatly magnified.

Affirmation: It is safe for me to see. I am a very visual person.

Today’s Tarot Card: Queen of Cups
Today’s Fairy Oracle: Body Movement

Governed by the Sun – Healing, spirituality, success, strength, protection

Colors:
Yellow, orange, gold, amber

The Moon:
3rd Quarter Waning in Aquarius, void-of-course @ 12:14 a.m., enters Pisces @ 2:46 a.m.

Waning Moon: Waning moon is when the moon appears to be shrinking in the sky, the last two weeks of the moon’s twenty-eight day cycle. Each night the light of the moon gets smaller and smaller until ultimately, the moon appears invisible and is completely out of sight. During this two weeks, it’s best for doing magickal workings to rid yourself of things, to cast away negative energies, or to break habits. If you want to keep your nails short, trim them during waning moon. Want to slow the growth of your hair? Cut it during waning moon. Want to end a certain relationship? Waning moon is best. Quit smoking? Lose weight? Waning moon lends its energies to these types of magickal workings.

Moon in Aquarius: *Rebellious energy. Time to break habits and make abrupt change. Personal freedom and individuality is the focus.

Void-of-Course: *Just before the Moon enters a new sign, it will make one final aspect (angular relationship) to another planet. Between that last aspect and the entrance of the Moon into the next sign it is said to be void-of-course. Activities begun when the Moon is void-of-course rarely come to fruition, or they turn out very differently than planned.

Moon in Pisces: *The focus is on dreaming, nostalgia, intuition, and psychic impressions. A good time for spiritual or philanthropic activities. (Ties in perfectly with that Queen of Cups, dontchya think?)

The Sun:
Leo, The Lion

The Sun Rules the Sign of Leo

  • On the downside: You may have a heavy ego, and you can be arrogant, vain, and extravagant.
  • Your good qualities include: A strong vitality, honorable, creative, generous, dignified.
  • Developing your own self identity and mode of creative energy expression will be your ongoing life’s work.

Leo has a great deal of self confidence but they also have a great fear of being ridiculed and made to feel disgraced. While Leo is very affectionate there is a tendency to have things their way and may rapidly lose interest if they are challenged too often for the leading role. They will have to learn to discipline themselves against their overall enthusiasm for living life to the fullest, which is to say, dangerously on the edge. The creative urge in Leos should never be stifled as to do so a good deal of potential will be wasted.

Leos are found as painters, actors, or sculptors; but not all Leos are in the public arts, no, rather they can be found in the throes of creation doing their projects on the kitchen table. They have an infectious vitality that lights up their lives like an inner sun and illuminates not only their lives, but the lives of those around them. Lack of fulfillment in life, professionally or personally, can destroy these bright and shinning people and cloud their personalities.Leos need control in their lives to be really satisfied so organization is absolutely essential to their peace of mind.

A leo should cultivate a flexible mind as they do not always ‘know best’.

Only when this trait is cultivated can the characteristic Leonine warmth, generosity, and desire to really understand others be fully indulged.

The lions love and adore children as they bring out the inner child. Leos are surprisingly sensitive and easily hurt, but they do have a tendency to dominate and this should never be underestimated. It is always meant well as they only want to bring out the best in the people they care about, or work with. They also tend toward impatience and they should make curbing these traits a lifelong objective. Born leaders, they can take command of a situation in any emergency and see it through to its completion. The enthusiams they acquired in childhood will generally last a lifetime and may even dictate the career one would choose.

They can be too status conscious, causing themselves much anguish when, or if, they cannot keep up with others in their immediate circle. They can also be quite overbearing and vain when they feel they are being challenged. On the other hand, the lions make great lovers and parents, giving more to a relationship than most of the other signs. They are good honorable persons and good providers.

There are exceptions to every rule, and today you should put some extra effort into determining whether or not this could be one of them.
