Due to technical difficulties and time constraints, I’m going to group it all in one post – and omit images.  I don’t like doing it that way, but it’s better than not doing it at all.

Today’s cards that I’ve drawn are repeat cards, meaning I’m stuck in a cycle I’ve yet to break.  Not surprising, really, and they’re right on target with how I’ve been feeling.

Today’s Tarot Card: Judgement – I drew this one on July 3rd and had quite a bit to say about it.  Today, it shows up in reverse, just as it did on the 3rd, which means I’m really not making the progress I should be making in this area of my life.  If I was progressing, it would have shown up in the upright position… I’m too scattered, too spread out, and too harsh of a critic when it comes to myself, my past experiences, my current state of mind, and my future potential.  When I drew the card previously, I included references from LearnTarot.com and Aeclectic.Net – today, I’ll add one more reference… from “Solitary Witch: Book of Shadows for the New Generation” by Silver Raven Wolf:

Things coming back to haunt you; revisiting and taking responsibility for one’s actions (past or present); spiritual awakening; forgiveness; facing consequences; learning from experience; reaping what you have sown.

*Astrological association: Pluto

So, having still not done my mid-point review of July’s Tarot (and likely not having time this morning as hoped), it seems as though I’m stuck in a rut… the same place now that I was at the beginning of the month.  It makes sense since last night I said I lost the last two weeks… and that time is slipping through my fingers.  I haven’t been “living” or “evolving” as I should… I’ve been in straight up survival mode. Go to work, work all day and late into the evening, drive home exhausted, crash…. repeat.  In the only spare time I’ve had, I’ve been doing readings, which is fine – no worries – I’m meant to — but there hasn’t been any time remaining for myself (which is likely why I drew that Quiet Time fairy the other day!)

Speaking of fairies, today’s draw is also a repeat card, drawn six days ago on July 10th.

Today’s Fairy Oracle: Higher Consciousness

Here’s what the guidebook says:

Card Meaning: You are receiving guidance from your true self, your higher consciousness, which is one with Divine universal wisdom. You are listening to love rather than fear.

Description: This card is a validation that your recent feelings, thoughts, dreams, and aspirations are coming from Spirit. You have been asking for Divine guidance, and your higher self has answered your prayers. Your spiritual path has helped you hear this voice because you’ve taken the time to listen. Perhaps you’ve begun a meditation or yoga practice, and this has helped you quiet your mind. Or maybe you’ve put your foot down to the Universe and have adamantly decided to improve your life.

Whichever route you’ve taken is working very well. Now, the fairies ask you to keep having conversations with your higher consciousness. This will involve carving out time away from noise and stress. You may need to take frequent nature walks, join a spiritual support group, or go on a retreat. By quieting your life and your mind, the voice of your higher consciousness becomes increasingly loud and clear. It guides you perfectly through all life areas.

Affirmation: I easily hear and understand the inner voice of Spirit.

The Cancerian character is the least clear-cut of all those associated with the signs of the zodiac. It can range from the timid, dull, shy and withdrawn to the most brilliant, and famous Cancerians are to be found through the whole range of human activity. It is a fundamentally conservative and home-loving nature, appreciating the nest like quality of a secure base to which the male can retire when he needs a respite from the stresses of life, and in which the Cancerian woman can exercise her strong maternal instincts. The latter tends to like and to have a large family. `Nest like’ is an appropriate adjective for the Cancerian home, for its inhabitants tend to favor the dark, mysterious but comfortable type of house which has something of the air of a den about it, a place which belongs to the family rather than existing as a showcase to impress visitors.
That is not to say that the Cancerian is unsociable, just that for them there is a time to socialize and a time to be solitary, and this is part of the apparent contradiction in their nature. Outwardly they can appear formidable – thick-skinned, unemotional, uncompromising, obstinately tenacious, purposeful, energetic, shrewd, intuitive and wise, sometimes with a philosophical profundity of thought verging on inspiration. Their intimates, however, may see a very different character, one with a sympathetic and kindly sensitivity to other people, especially those they love. They are able to identify with the situations of others because of the keenness of their imaginations. They are often over-imaginative and prone to fantasy, sometimes trying to shape their lives to fit some romantic ideal. They are appreciative of art and literature, and especially of drama, where the spectacle and ebb and flow of action and feeling particularly excite them. They may themselves possess considerable literary, artistic or oratorical talent. Their sharp ears and talent for mimicry can sometimes give them success on the stage, though their tendency to be emotional may make them overact. Interestingly – because they give the impression of being down-to-earth – they are often fascinated by the occult and are more open to psychic influence than the average. If they can reconcile the personal conflict of their urge to be outgoing with the reserve that causes them to withdraw into themselves, then at best they can inspire a generation, especially the youthful part of it, by their idealism. A job in which they can express this, and in which they can do well, would be as a leader in a youth organization.

Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

You should adhere to more conservative ideas. Be aware that people may be lying.

On most days, you live life the way you want to and try not to worry too much about what other people think. Today, though, you can tell that things are more delicate and require greater discretion.

Daily Extended
You should adhere to more conservative ideas today. Play things safe, and don’t be too generous with too many people, even the ones you think deserve your generosity. You might think you have a lot of time and resources right now, but give things a second glance this afternoon — you’ll notice that you really can’t afford to spread things around too much. Forget about your idea to take someone out to lunch, and trim back your budget for that friend’s birthday present.

Daily Flirt:
Let someone else be the life of the party — you’d rather kick back and enjoy watching the proceedings, or just chat with someone cute. Your energy levels should pick right back up in another day or so.

Daily Couples:
The urge to save your pennies has overtaken you, and you’ve been remarkably disciplined. Give yourself a little break from being thrifty, and treat yourself and your partner to a little something special.

Daily Singles:
You’re not impulsive type. Having a Plan B, C and D is usually your style. While being overly prepared comes in handy when everyone else seems to flounder, you could come off as rigid and controlling. Give in to a little spontaneity once in awhile.

Career & Finance:
It’s all about finances, today. If you’re out of ideas for whittling away at the budget, come up with a new strategy altogether. Being more thrifty than usual just won’t do the trick.

Moon Void-of-Course: Just before the Moon enters a new sign, it will make one final aspect (angular relationship) to another planet. The Sun:
Cancer, “The Crab”

This month’s Sign: Cancer (June 20th to July 22nd)
Date & Time of Suns Entry (also the Summer Solstice): June 20th, 2008 at 4:59 pm PDT, 5:59 pm MDT, 6:59 pm CDT, 7:59 pm EDT
Type: A water, cardinal sign
Planetary Ruler: The Moon
Areas of Body Ruled: Breasts, stomach, solar plexus
Key Phrase: I feel and thus establish
Symbols: The crab

What is ruled by Cancer? Home, family, children, our heritage and roots, where we feel we belong, the need to feel secure, what is familiar to us, our emotions.

This information is for all signs of the Zodiac.
There are two primary reasons for this:
One is that whatever is going on in the skies Astrologically affects us all, all of the time.
Two is that we each have all twelve signs somewhere in our natal chart and
so the current focus on the sign of Cancer activates that area.
The following information explains how the current emphasis
on Cancer may affect you personally and ways to work with this influence.

The Sun entering Cancer is also the first day of Summer in the Northern Hemisphere (and the first day of Winter in the Southern Hemisphere). This marks a time to celebrate the light and warmth that nature and the life force provides. This is a season of growth resulting in fruition in the Fall. While this is generally associated with planting gardens and crops, it also applies to any ventures, ideas and/or projects. The seeds planted in the Winter/Spring now take hold and begin to bloom.

One of the lessons now is to continue to tend to and
nurture those things that are at the stage of growth just prior to harvest,
and to rejoice in the realization and fulfillment of our past efforts.

Cancer is an emotional and impressionable sign, and during this time of the year, you can often feel ultra sensitive, even if we are not a Cancer (remember, we all have the sign of Cancer—and all the 12 signs—influencing our chart somewhere). The Moon, the ruling “planet” for Cancer, is the fastest-moving object in the skies. Hence, Cancer is changeable, moody at times and fluid in nature. It is a time that while we (all) may feel more sensitive and emotional we can also learn to be more open, caring and receptive. We increase our capacity for nurturance and our ability to receive~from ourselves, our families, our friends and from life. This sign more than any other influences our ability to feel at ease and safe in the world.

During this time we long to belong.

The four weeks of strong Cancerian influences (6/20 to 7/22), we are often nostalgic and flooded with memories that may evoke strong emotions. To understand this aspect of our nature, we must go into our feeling and emotional realms. Being watery in nature (the Moon, being the ruler of Cancer, greatly influences the tides), we need to ebb and flow with these rhythms. And to try not to have agendas about the form, structure or the outcome our emotional experiences may take. The trick is to keep the inner tides moving, allowing whatever comes up and then not be attached to that, awaiting the next wave of feeling to move through you.

Some other areas that may get your attention or focus during this month are:

your childhood and foundations; your early impressions.
generations and generational issues and dynamics
your genetics and lineage. (You can learn a lot about your emotional natures if you look at the patterns laid by those before you in your lineage.) ….. (read more)

Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

Someone who’s usually warm gets a lot chillier today– don’t take it personally.

Now is the time to make your move — you’ve got all the confidence you need and you might find that all it takes is a little extra bluster to see you through. Things could get really interesting today.

Daily Extended
Are you feeling a frosty chill from someone who’s usually warm and sweet? Ask them if something is wrong today, and if they tell you ‘nothing,’ then don’t push it. Respect their boundaries and assume that if they wanted to talk to you about something, they just missed a perfect opportunity to do so. Don’t spend too much time thinking about why they’re different, today. You will have too much of your own stuff to deal with. You can’t pry things out of people.

Daily Flirt:
You’re filled with amazing energy, and if you’ve been putting anything off for later, now is the time to take care of it. You know you’ll do fine, and that’s all you really need to make it work.

Daily Couples:
Sure, the celebrity magazines are fun to read, but lately your own love life is just as interesting. Enjoy a romantic evening out on the town tonight, and when anyone asks for details, tell them you don’t kiss and tell.

Daily Singles:
Today your willpower feels like it’s constantly being tested. Show some self-restraint as you try to dazzle others. Even though your conversational skills astound your friends, you might not get the same reaction from new people.

Career & Finance
You may not be Picasso but you should have more confidence than you do when it comes to being creative. Glorify your ability to think and express yourself in your own unique way.

*Planting Day
(Hmm… since the moon is waning which means things going away, and the fairies suggested a break from the mundane, how ’bout if I plant the seed for a vacation!! *smiles*)

Today’s Fairy Oracle: Vacation
Today’s Tarot Card: Four of Cups

Governed by Mars – passion, courage, aggression, protection

red, white, black, gray, maroon, scarlet

The Moon:
3rd quarter waning in Pisces

Waning Moon: Waning, from Full Moon to New Moon, is a time for study, meditation, and magical work designed to banish harmful energies.

Moon in Pisces: The focus is on dreaming, nostalgia, intuition, and psychic impressions. A good time for spiritual or philanthropic activities.

Source for the above information, excluding divinatory cards: Llewellyn’s Witches’ Datebook 2008

The Sun:
Cancer, “The Crab”

Modality: Cardinal
Element: Water
Ruler: the Moon
Season: Summer
4th Sign of Zodiac
Metal: Silver
Stone: Pearl, Opal
Color: White, Yellow
Anatomy: Breasts, stomach
Keywords: gentle, conservative, feeling, nurturing, defensive, contemplative.

Comparison with the Cancer symbol, the Crab:
A crab is able to walk or run sideways. Similarly, Cancer natives can sometimes “move about” in life, in a figurative sense, in an indirect manner. The crab’s body is covered by a carapace (shell). Cancer natives are self-protective and sensitive, and often retreat into themselves when hurt. Crabs are able to resist changes in the environment, thereby protecting themselves from hostile elements in various habitats. Similarly, Cancer natives are thought to avoid too much change, and to be on the defensive. Crabs have “complex behavior patterns” (1). The inner world of Cancer natives is thought to be rather quirky and complex. Some crabs “conceal themselves by decorating their bodies with plants and animals” (2). Cancer natives tend to try to blend in with their environments, preferring not to make a big splash in life.

Cancer’s glyph, or symbol, may represent the breasts as a symbol of the nurturing qualities of the sign.

Sun in Cancer

(The Sun is in Cancer from June 21-22 to July 22-23, depending on the year).
Sun in Cancer natives have a strong survival instinct. They are protective of those they care about, and of themselves too. They are often quite reticent about sharing their inner selves to the rest of the world, and are often caught up in reminisce.

Cancers have a reputation for moodiness, although this trait is most evident when the Moon is in Cancer. Cancer needs roots. They resist change to an extent, and concern themselves about being secure and safe in most everything they do.

Cancers can be quite intrigued by objects with history attached to them — antiques, photos, souvenirs, and the like.

Cancer is a very sensitive sign, and they don’t always appreciate it when you are blunt with them. Their reactions to hurt will depend on how thick a shell they have developed. Most Cancers react by withdrawing or retreating. Some have developed an ability to manipulate others to get what they want. They avoid direct confrontations almost as a rule.

Cancers are, in fact, quite yielding and soft when you have them in the right mood. They are one of the more hospitable signs of the zodiac. Sure, they can be touchy and indirect, but they are also very dependable, caring souls.

Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

You’re creative, so why not create something? Make a gift for a special person.

Keep your hands on your wallet today — it’s not a good time to make purchases, especially with others. If you’ve got to get something, then see if you can go it alone for the time being.

Daily Extended
You are a very creative person, so why not create something today? You don’t have to paint a painting or create a typical type of artwork — baking cookies, putting together a new outfit, or even making a mixed CD are all great ways to express yourself in a unique way. Create something for someone you care about and give them your creation as a gift — they’ll appreciate the extra effort and thoughtfulness, and they’ll love showing you their gratitude.

Daily Flirt:
You need to chill out about money today, because it’s just not going to get any better until other people start to do what they need to do — and you can’t make them! It’s a good time to walk away from the table.

Daily Couples:
A comment that you meant as a joke gets taken the wrong way by your loved one. Don’t try to convince them that you were only kidding. Just say you’re sorry and carry on.

Daily Singles:
Things may not be crystal clear when it comes to matters of the heart. But that’s half the fun. If you could predict future relationships would you ever go out of the house again?

Career & Finance
All that glitters is not gold, that much you know. But just what do you value, besides money? Do some research before you have any financial dealings, to make sure you know exactly what you’re looking for.

Waning Moon: Waning, from Full Moon to New Moon, is a time for study, meditation, and magical work designed to banish harmful energies.

Moon in Aquarius: Rebellious energy. Time to break habits and make abrupt change. Personal freedom and individuality are the focus.

The Sun:
Cancer, “The Crab”
approximately June 21-July 20

Ruled by: The Moon
Element: Water
Character Traits: Cancers are sensitive and kind. They are intuitive and loving, but can be prone to worrying too much about the people they care about. Here, we also find a duality, as a Cancer can be up on stage one minute, getting attention from audiences, or living alone on a mountain top the next.

Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

Don’t fly off the handle to any shocking news that might come today — play it cool.

You’re feeling drawn to the world of art today, either as a creator or as a spectator. In either case, you bring more than your sensitive nature — you also are brimming over with creative energy!

Daily Extended
Don’t fly off the handle due to any shocking news that might come your way, today — you might be only getting part of the story, so it’s very unwise to connect the few dots you’ve been given. Wait for this story to develop more fully over the next few days. You will probably see that not only are things more complicated than you had heard, they’re also none of your business. Making assumptions will only lead to problems. So when you get that email or text, just hit ‘delete’ and move on.

Daily Flirt:
You need to scope out some new art today — maybe hitting a gallery, maybe lurking in alleys to check out graffiti or maybe even coming up with some on your own to show to the world.

Daily Couples:
You’ve been laying the groundwork for some big changes, and now it’s starting to pay off. Expect good things to start happening — your already excellent life with your honey is about to get even better.

Daily Singles:
All that glitters is not gold. Flash doesn’t always equal substance. The best person for you isn’t necessarily the one drawing all the attention. Look beyond the glitz.

Career & Finance:
If you want to throw open the window and scream that you’re mad as heck and not going to take this anymore, it’s already been done. You can put your own twist on the story, though.

Today’s Fairy Oracle: Stand Your Ground
Today’s Tarot Card: King of Swords

*Harvest Day:
Gather the rewards of the seeds planted and work done, both physically and spiritually.

Governed by the Sun – healing, spirituality, success, strength, protection

yellow, orange, gold, amber

The Moon:
3rd Quarter waning in Aquarius

Waning Moon: From Full Moon to New Moon is a time for study, meditation, and magical work designed to banish harmful energies.

The Sun:

With a Cancer Sun, you are a somewhat complex character – kind, diplomatic, sympathetic, highly sensitive and deeply emotional, yet very defensive, protective and at times quite unforgiving – unable to forget even a minor slight. You possess a powerful imagination, and on occasions, you bring a touch of genius into the more profound affairs of life, to your and everyone else’s surprise! Comfort, pleasure and relaxation are all found in your own little retreat, the home and family. Instinctive, maternal/paternal nurturing qualities make you an excellent parent and home-maker. With a sense of sound economy, you also have talent for business, but your changeable nature suggests that partnership of some form is safer than go-it-alone enterprises. Hitting one of your frequent emotional lows could precipitate disaster, having no obligation to a second party. To develop your personality to its fullest potential, the main task is one of keeping the outlook free of morbidity, and preventing depletion of emotional energy through wrong thinking. You need to cultivate a positive mental outlook. Likely occupations are nautical professions and work connected with the sea, institutional work, businesses and professions dealing with liquids, or professional occupations to do with religion. Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

Where did all of your patience go? Try to bring it back by living in the moment.

The situation keeps changing underneath you, but you can adapt and change right along with it. Keep an open mind and make sure that you are thinking at least one step ahead for most of the day.

Daily Extended
Today will go by much slower than you would like — it’s tonight or tomorrow that’s where you really want to be! But you will have to wait, and there is no getting around it. Where did all of your patience go? You can bring it back by trying to focus on living in the moment. Try to focus on what you’re doing today and time will go a little bit faster. Spending all your energy thinking about the future is telling the universe that you don’t appreciate what you have — and that’s not true, is it?

Daily Flirt:
Things aren’t going to change much today — so you need to change around them if you want to feel right. Fortunately for you, that’s not so hard, thanks to your great, adaptable energy.

Daily Couples:
Sometimes you need to set personal gain aside and focus on what’s best for your relationship. Working together with your partner, you can achieve a balance that will leave you both happy.

Daily Singles:
Don’t let pride get in the way of saying sorry to someone you’d rather not lose. Ruining a potentially great relationship isn’t worth being right all the time. Learn to let things go.

Career & Finance:
You’ve learned that going up the chain of command leads to serious ego clashes, not to mention power struggles. So go laterally. There are plenty of coworkers on your level that can help you to the top.

The Sun:

Gemini, “The Twins”, through 6:59 p.m. this evening, then the sun shifts to:

Cancer, “The Crab”.

View older Daily Dose posts for information on Gemini (and watch for a possible future article on the subject based on what I’ve learned thus far).

Here’s a bit on Cancer energy and influences:

The Principle of Security

Symbol-The Crab
Sun Sign Dates– June 22 to July 23 (varies according to year)
Planetary Ruler-Moon
Natural Zodiac Affinity-Fourth House

Cancer is a sensitive sign, capable of sensing the ebb and flow of it’s environment and the fluctuating moods of other people. How can it do this? Because Cancer understands emotion. Cancer understands feelings. Cancer is especially susceptible to the waxing and waning of the lunar cycles and so appears moody to those who are not aware of this fact. Cancer can play the role of either the mother hen or the little baby. Immature is a Cancer keyword. No, all Cancers are not immature! They can be the best at nurturing, or they can be extremely self-protective. It’s easy for Cancer to feel slighted. “Hey! What about me?” As an aggressive Cardinal sign they can still display a good deal of self-interest.

Cancer is one of the most tenacious signs you’ll ever meet. They know how to hang in there when the going gets tough. They may be whining and carrying on the whole time, but they don’t give up! Here of course we’re referring to the pure energy. Think of the crab in the sea. This little guy knows all about going with the flow, Cancers can be traditional too. Go with the flow. Let someone else blaze new trails. Why upset the status quo? Cancer has enough to worry about. Their safety and security for one thing. Back to the little crab in the big ocean. This is another sweet sign you don’t want to cross. Cancer can be mean as the dickens if you step over their boundaries. Ouch! They’re a defensive bunch too.

Cancers many moods will teach you the art of gentle diplomacy whether you want to learn it or not. Cancer doesn’t forget either. They have very good memories and a fondness for reliving the past, for good or ill. Don’t try to hide anything from a Cancer. Sometimes they get a gut feeling about things. They’re like your mother was. They just know stuff. They’re usually right. Many Cancers are attuned to domestic things, too.

Pure Cancer energy is …..
* sensitive to the desires and needs of others
* feels a strong need to protect themselves
* a hard time letting go of the past
* a retentive memory
* playing the role of “big mama/daddy or can be the baby
* can be overly touchy, sensitive and insecure
* avoiding upsetting the status quo
* can be very tenacious
* often quite domestic
* ups and downs/mood changes

*Note: I’ll find different sources/learning materials each day as I can, accumulate the information, and my goal is to write a piece in my own words based on what I’ve learned at the end of the month.

Today’s Horoscope for Leo:

Someone you care about will throw a wrench into your plans — don’t get frustrated.

See if you can just hear people out without getting your ego involved. That may be harder than you think — on a day like today, it’s far too easy to interpret every scrap of criticism as a slight!

King of Cups

“King of Cups”

I’m actually glad I drew this card because it’s one I really don’t know all that well and am looking forward to learning more about. There are certain things I do know, so I’ll start there, then reference other sources and see what I’m missing.

First of all, I look at the fact that this card is represented by the suit of Cups, meaning it’s an emotion-based card. This card is about feelings, emotions, and planning.

Secondly, I look at the fact that this card is a King, meaning it’s got a sort of “paternal” energy to it, a father-figure authoritive flavor. Kings are about law, order, rules, and regulations.

Add the cups to the king and I come up with a need to get a tighter reign on emotional conditions. Beware of tendencies toward depression, drama, fear – or even their opposites. Seek balance in emotional states and don’t let emotions get unruly.

It reminds me of what I wrote last night about knowing temper tantrums won’t solve anything.

If I’m not mistaken (which I could be), I think I remember this card being associated with Cancer in the Zodiac (although the fish around the King’s neck makes me think Pisces). If I’m accurate about it being a Cancer sign, then those energies would also apply. Cancer energies are highly subjective to depression and/or mood swings. It’s an extremely emotional energy, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing if those emotions are well balanced, although Cancer energy sometimes has a tendency to focus on the negative. Cancer energy is highly focused on homes and work and can also tend to be introverted (loner). The cancer energy does seem to align here with the King’s authority asking for more order and regulation, coupled with the cups suit of emotion.

So if I drew this card in a reading for someone else, I’d advise them to work hard at keeping their emotions in check, warding off depression or tendencies to focus on the negative, and to invest more energies into home, family, and work to help restore emotional balance.

Am I right? *shrugs*

Let’s check the other sources:

Here’s from LearnTarot.com:

The personality of the King of Cups is a combination of the positive water energy of the Cups suit and the active, outward focus of a King. He is wise and understanding, with a deep knowledge of the world that comes from the heart. He is a teacher and way-shower who guides his students with loving attention. He cares about others sincerely and always responds to their needs with compassion. He heals with a gentle touch and a quiet word. He is calm and relaxed in all situations, seeming to know intuitively what is called for at any moment. Others turn to him for advice because they know he will listen attentively. There is always a peacefulness around him that others respond to. He is tolerant of all points of view and shows patience in the most trying circumstances. He gives others freedom to grow and develop in their own ways without asking anything in return.

In readings, the King of Cups asks you to take the kinds of actions he might take. For example: responding calmly in a crisis, using diplomacy rather than force, reaching out to help, or accepting a different point of view. This King can also represent a man or woman who acts as he does, or an atmosphere of caring, tolerance and understanding. In a reading, he tells you that his special energy has meaning for you at this time. Let yourself be inspired by this King in whatever form he appears in your life.

Well, looks like I missed my mark on a grand scale on this one! And this is why I continue to study and learn. I wasn’t entirely wrong, but I put my focus too much on what could be wrong instead of how to project the “healthy” energy of this card by being calm, and I totally missed the boat on the healer aspect. Looking at the waters beneath him may help me remember… even though the waters are stormy and rocky, he’s poised with an assuredness. Much to learn. Much to learn.

And here’s from Aeclectic Tarot:

Kings. Although they come last, they really should come first, as Kings are where the Court Cards start. They are the fire – their element – the passion, the driving force. This is why Crowley has them as Knights instead, riding on horseback (rather than sitting passively on a throne), filled with energy, moving, leading. Kings are related to the Emperor, and like him they are planners, motivators, commanders, and creators; the one who rallies everyone together to form the kingdom. (Think Henry V.) The Queen is the one who will make it real, and the Knight/Prince will take it beyond the castle walls. But without the King, it won’t happen at all.

Thus, Kings in a spread can indicate motivation, a beginning or start of something.

King of Cups

The decision to start a new relationship may indicate a man deciding to propose or just finally motivating himself to approach a special someone. This is a new love, but it is a mature love, one that is determined. Can also indicate a man motivated to be a new and better provider, father and husband.

Whao, Nellie – I missed this one by a long shot. Not only does it give me a better understanding of this card and an ability to better interpret his meaning when he comes up in readings, but … holy hot dogs, Bat Man… what does this mean for me? I didn’t just draw this card today for the sake of learning… I drew it for its divinitory message as it applies to me!

*head rattle*

Intro: During my battle with cancer, I woke daily wondering if each day would be my last. I bonded with my journals during that time, trying frantically to leave something of value for my children, family, loved ones, and friends. I wanted them to know, before I was “gone”, that I lived in my words… the essence of my very being is contained in my writing, and if they missed me or wanted to connect with me, all they had to do was read my words and it would bring my energy to them. Fortunately, I overcame the cancer and have continued living life – continued living with an escalated appreciation for the genuine gift life is and the treasures each day contains. The cancer threat is over, but the fact remains that I live through words.

“Feel the Breeze”
Written by:
Wendi Friend

Will my ink be magic to you someday?
Will it crawl up through your fingertips when you
touch the page?
Will the energy I leave here
be strong enough
to reach out and grab you
as I read
from over your shoulder?

Feel the breeze?

Will you search my words for knowledge,
for truth
for a profound epiphany
a prolific outpour of universal goo
to ooze over you

Did I offer you comfort
in some way —
through a chat,

a mannerism,
an exchange of energy?

Maybe you looked up to me

or down

Maybe I changed your life
in some way or another
or perhaps you changed mine

for better
or worse.

Did you think me intelligent
or an idiot?
Did you capture my essence as
well grounded
or dangerously flighty?

Do -You – Feel – That – Breeze?

If you’re reading these words,
I can assume that you know me
or knew me
in some life-changing fashion

through reading
or writing
or loving
or living,
exchanging smiles
or glances
or chances

I don’t know what it was you came here looking for
or if I’ve got it to give
but if I do
it’s yours
and I really do hope you find it.

Maybe it wasn’t a breeze after all.
It could have just been me.
