Magick Compass

Years and years ago, when I first began exploring the world of magick, I realized that The Four Directions are extremely powerful.  As I studied, I learned that most energies and “issues” can be associated with one of the four directions, as can – of course – the elements.  Even the suits of the Tarot correspond with the four directions and elements.  Based on what I was learning at the time, I created what I call a Magickal Compass.  Here’s how it turned out:

In time, I’ll be re-working this, adding more to it as I learn, but I thought it’d be neat if I included the original here, especially since it’s the only one I currently have to work with and refer to often. Here’s what the text says:

NORTH:
Element: Earth
Tarot Correspondence: Pentacles
Season: Winter
Archangel: Uriel
Elementals: Gnomes, Dwarfs, Elves, Brownies, Hobgoblins, Leprechauns
Astrological Signs: Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn

Health issues, health of body, spirituality, increasing or developing intuition, using divination, transcending the physical and trying to communicate telepathically. In asking for guidance from whomever or whatever you call your Higher Power.

Feminine energy – realm of stability, growth, and of the eternal Mother Goddess, and the realm of the body. It is related to fertility, prosperity, grounding and centering, money, dance, motherly love, planting and harvesting, the home and pets.

 

East:
Element: Air
Tarot Correspondence: Swords
Season: Fall
Archangel: Raphael
Elementals: Sylph, Faeries, Angels
Astrological Signs: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius

Career issues, strength, clarity, new business opportunities, financial matters, any endeavor requiring extra energy, healing of the mind, new beginnings.

Masculine energy – the realm of mind and thought. It is related to the intellect, study, astral travel, communication, music and sound, weather magick, and power raising.

South:
Element: Fire
Tarot Correspondence: Wands
Season: Spring
Archangel: Michael
Elementals: Jin and Genies, Salamanders
Astrological signs: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius

Love issues, relationships of any kind, creative and artistic pursuits, anything of a romantic or emotional nature.

Masculine energy – realm of transformation, change, disruption, and passion. Related to protection, exorcism, banishing, sex and sex magick, purification, divination.

West:
Element: Water
Tarot Correspondence: Cups
Season: Summer
Archangel: Gabriel
Elementals: Undines, Nymphs, Tritons, Mermaids and Mermen, Sirens, Harpies
Astrological Signs: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces

Letting go and moving on, increasing self esteem, forgiving yourself or someone else, cleansing, unconditional love, spirituality, emotion

Feminine energy – the realm of the psychic or dream world, and the realm of feeling. It is related to childbirth, inner transformation, purification, emotional healing, romantic love, manifesting most spell work, death and rebirth.

As stated above, this was my first attempt, and I can see where it still needs work.  If, when, and as time allows, I’ll be editing, revising, and adding to this page – but for the time being, it’s a good start in the right… eh hem… direction.
